Sales shopping

I went a bit crazy in the sales and thought I would share the results with you. Firstly though I must tell you that for £52 I bought 4 dresses, 2 tops, 1 hoody, 2 necklaces, 1 pair of earrings, 1 ring and 2 belts. I think you must agree that's impressive.

I decided to do a bit of a fashion shoot to add some better images to my blog. Luckily my boyfriend is an aspiring photographer so we had some fun pretending to be profesh!

Pretty much everything you will see is sale but the hoody was not and a few items were Christmas prezzies.

Versace and Versus Spring/Summer 2013

As always, I was completely blown away by Versace and Versus new collections.

I am going to point out a few of favourite pieces but to see all the Versace pieces head to their Facebook page and for the Versus pieces check out their page.

Versace Spring/Summer 2013

Lots of classic Versace pieces with some cool new twists. Lots of black, orange and blue. Lots of details and embellishments and very sexy silhouettes.

Simple, classic, orange. I love.

A lot of the pieces featured this unusual lace/mesh type fabric. I enjoy the fun of it and the detail that it adds to something simple, like the jacket.

Short, sassy, sexy. Very Versace but with a fun twist. Love.

Of course there were lots of show stopping gowns which I see gracing many red carpets. This is a stunner... Love the colour.

Versus Spring/Summer 2013

Lots of boldcolour and prints and easy to wear pieces. The younger, funkier sister of Versace.

Pink, super short, sassy. Very classic Versace shape.

I love the colours and the print. Bright and bold! Easy to wear. Imagine that top with a pair of skinny jeans and killer heels? Also, awesome bag!

Check out the linked chain on the hem... this crops up a lot in this collection and is quite subtle. Have a look at the shoes... And the bag in the previous shot. How awesome is this? So funky and fresh!

Cute, funky, fun and colourful. Lots of love!

An off topic post... Jesus Christ Superstar

The arena tour of Jesus Christ Superstar opened last night at the O2 and it looks like it was amazing.

Check out Chris Moyles as King Herod singing one of the best songs from the show. He is brilliant!

The show also stars Melanie C as Mary Magdalene, Tim Minchin as Judas and Ben Foster in the title role. Ben Foster was found through a reality show which I, of course, followed and I had picked Ben Foster as my Jesus from his first audition.

Having watched Chris Moyles and some other videos on YouTube it seems like they've made it really modern which I am so impressed with.

As you can see in the King Herod video above, they've based this scene on a TV show with the ability for the 'viewers' to text in and vote on whether Jesus is the Lord or a fraud. There are stage managers and camera crew running around. It's a very clever way of showing the modern relevence of the Superstar story. You don't have to be Jesus, just a 'superstar', to be at the receiving end of this kind of treatment. Persecution, denial, ridicule.

In the crucifixion scene it appears that he is strung up on stage lights (rather than a wooden cross), again an extremely clever way to make it modern and interesting.

It is genius to decide to make it so modern and fresh, it can appeal to a brand new audience and make it understandable to all. I have always loved the music from JCS and I love that maybe more people will watch this and listen to it in this new updated format.

It looks like it went down a storm and I am gutted that I have been too poor to afford tickets, however thanks to all the youtubers for already uploading videos. You guys rock!

Well done Andrew Lloyd Webber!

P.S. The costumes are also awesome. Check out the four main stars below. I particularly love Herod's red suit!

Halo Plaits

Halo Plaits are absolutely everywhere I love them, check out some celebs and models rocking the trend below. How adorable?

There are a million tutorials for this style out there but personally I don't have the dexterity for it! Which is why I am extremely lucky to have a big sister who is a hairdresser and is willing to practice her skills on me. I have rocked this look a number of times over the summer and I'll be taking it into winter. I love it!

DIY: Playsuit to top

I bought a really cool leopard print playsuit last year from H&M but I just didn't wear it. It was super short so you had to wear leggings and I am currently trying to avoid leggings so I decided to give it away.

I offered it to my big sister who thought it was a top then TA-DA, magical idea... so I turned it into a top!

Chop off the bottom and sew along the seams in a straight line. Easy as pie. What do ya think?

Olympic nails

Glitter bronze, silver, gold with glitter green in support of Team Ireland!

Anyone else get on the Olympic nail art trend?

Wednesday 8 August 2012

Olympic fever

I've joined in with Olympic fever well and truly and painted my nails to reflect in support.

I used glitter, 'cause it's awesome, to create bronze, silver, gold on my index, middle and ring finger.

Then I used green glitter on my thumb and little finger. Why green? I'm Irish so all out support for team Ireland!

This picture was actually taken while I was at the triathlon yesterday where the Brownlee boys did Team GB very proud.

I am loving the Olympics and every opportunity to show off some supporting spirit!

Blue nails not blue shoes...

I wanted to try a five finger nail art manicure, where I created a different look on every finger.

I used a base coat of Baker Street by Nails Inc on all of my nails.

Thumb: I used Floral Street by Nails Inc and a nail art brush to create a gradient of spots that started very dense on the top right of the nail and faded in the bottom left of the nail.

Index finger: Using Princes Street by Nails Inc and the nail art brush again I did two stripes to the left of centre of the nail.

Middle finger: I used nail glitters in a similar shade to Baker Street all over the nail.

Ring finger: I filled in half the nail on a diagonal using Royal Mews by Nails Inc (which appears to not be available anymore)

Little finger: Again, I covered the nail in glitter but this time in a lighter shade to the middle finger.

What do you think? I love the variety and how they all fit in the same theme.

My right hand was worse, as is always the way, but I did the same 5 designs but changed which finger they were on.

Still obsessed by nail art

So I may have been a bit quiet recently but my obsession for nail art continues. Here are some highlights.

Glitter I got some nail glitter for Christmas and have used it for both full set of nails and ring finger accent. I prefer the ring finger accent.

Ring finger nail art Using the Models Own nail art pen I created some ring finger accents. With all 3 designs and used a different colour on the ring finger as well as using nail art.

The first is a tribal design using a grey on 4 of my fingers and white with a black design on the ring finger.

The second is 2 shades of blue with black stripes and spots. Simple but effective.

The third is my favourite and really simple. A grey on the 4 fingers and a gorgeous Nails Inc silver on the ring finger with a simple heart in the corner.

Marbled nails These were my marbled nails for Easter. I love the colours.

Photo1
Shattered nails I shattered four of my fingers over a red shade and on the ring finger I just used a black varnish.

Phot7
Nail stickers These were super cheap in Superdrug, can't remember the brand. I like them but I don't love them, they didn't look great close up and came off quite quickly. Good fun though.

Just a quick bit of Versace love

The Versace Couture show was AMAZING and summed up everything I love about the brand: colour, drama and sex appeal.

Check out some of my faves below.

Some more nail art

I am even more obsessed with nail art. Since discovering Pinterest I have also discovered how many cool nail art designs you can do at home. Here are a few I have tried.

I tried some more marbled nails. Practice definitely makes perfect.

Marble
Using toothpicks I did some hearts and dots using normal nail varnish.

Heart

I've also been having lots of fun with my models own nail art pen. I've been practising so I've got a little better. Here are a few of the designs I've done.

Spotsandstripes

These are some spots and stripes. Not great but one of my first proper attempts.

Dscn2874

I did this leopard print ring finger manicure for my trip to the zoo. I thought it was rather appropriate.

This is personally my favourite look I've created with this pen. It takes a very steady hand (not so easy on using my left hand) and a lot of patience but I like it. As with them all, I'm sure practice makes perfect.

I'm really getting into DIY nail art but at the moment I've only scratched the surface. When I have time I'll be doing lots of different things. I want to try out a splatter manicure and some proper stripes using tape

Marbles nails

P205

So I tried out marbled nails last night. What do you think?

I won't even begin to try to explain it l'll just send you to the video that I watched. It is very instructional.

I have to say this is a time consuming activity but I did enjoy it and I'm sure I'll get better after a few more attempts.

My first play with Models Own Nail Art Pen

I went to Boots yesterday and there was an offer on Models Own products: buy two products and get a free nail art pen

As I have complete obsession with nail art I couldn't resist. I've never bought any Models Own products so I bought a pale blue nail varnish to go with the nail art pen. The pen has a pointy tip for dots, details and the like plus a paint brush for stripes and the like.

Photo_4

Today I had a play and I was surprised at how easy the nail art pen was to use. Here are the results:

Photo_2

My right hand was a little less successful but still a lot better than I expected.

Photo_3

My favourite is the leopard print on my little finger, much easier to achieve than expected. Any suggestions for different designs for me to play with?

I have to say in general I was very impressed with the Models Own nail varnish as well, a really nice product.

My only question now is when will they bring out even more colours of the pen??
